At the ravaged village, Ryouki explains to Kugui that she aspires to paint like her, and that her art has the potential to make dreams come true. She cheekily prods at Kugui's pride, claiming that she'll one day overtake the disheartened girl if she quits painting now. The two have a heart=to-heart, and Kugui resolves to paint again.
