A list of terminologies and abbreviations used by the World Flipper community for faster communication.

Please contribute to the page by adding more in alphabetical order.

General Terminologies

Abilities

  • Passives your unit gain when unlocking their Mana Board.

Ability Core

  • Equipment that can be equipped on a unit; meaning the unit will be kept by the unit. If you want to switch around Ability Cores, you will have to spentWrightpieces Icon.pngWrightpieces; the price changes depending on the rarity.
  • Obtained by awakening or melting down an armament.

Armaments

  • Equipment that can be equipped on a party slot; meaning they are not kept by the unit. You can strengthen an Armament up to four times by awakening it, or you can melt down extra copies for Wrightpieces Icon.pngWrightpieces.
  • You gain Ability Cores if you awaken or melt down extra copies.

Beads

  • Lodestar Bead.pngLodestar Beads, the premium currency of the game, most commonly used for rolling. There are two types of beads, "paid beads" and "free beads." Paid beads have a few more uses compared to free beads.

Bell

  • It's a bell icon that will sometimes pop up in the top left corner of your screen, indicating an open lobby for co-op.

Coffins

  • When your characters die, they will leave your team and become a coffin. Hitting the coffin will decrease the coffin count. Once it reaches 0, that unit will be revived with partial health.
  • The more that unit dies, the higher the coffin count.

Dashing

  • Tapping your screen when in battle will cause your units to dash at the nearest enemy. Your unit is ready to dash if you see a white arrow on them.

Elements

  • All units and most enemies have elements.
  • You deal more damage to enemies if you have the elemental advantage. You deal neutral damage if you do not have the advantage or have the weaker element. Enemies will always deal neutral damage to you, there is no elemental disadvantage.

Fever Gauge

  • Refers to the bar that fills up above your skill gauge. Makes stages easier to clear once activated.

Float

  • Refers to the buff named levitate which makes your units not have gravity, making them slide across the field.

Guarding

  • When going at high speeds, your units will take significantly reduced damage. Mostly occurs when launching off the flippers and when dashing.

Leader

  • Refers to the first unit on your team. This is because most units have "leader abilities" that are only in effect if they are in the first slot.

Main

  • Refers to the top three units on your team. This is because most units have "main abilities" that are only in effect if they are in the top of the team.

Mana Board

  • A menu where you can unlock and strengthen the abilities and skills of your units.

Pierce

  • Refers to the buff named pierce which lets you phase through enemies.

Power Flip

  • In certain combo counts, the next time you launch your units from the flippers, they will do a "power flip." The type of power flip will depend on the unit's class.
    • Bruiser: Deal immense damage to the first enemy hit. More damage the higher the power flip level.
    • Deadeye: Shoot out a beam in the direction you flipped in. More and wider beams the higher the power flip level.
    • Special: Deal damage to enemies in a radius surrounding the first enemy hit. Bigger radius the higher the power flip level.
    • Support: Temporarily gain penetration, float, and ATK UP. Longer duration the higher the power flip level. At level 3, deal damage to all enemies on screen.
    • Warrior: Deal extra damage to enemies in a radius around the leader. Bigger radius the higher the power flip level.

Point Pod

  • A menu where you can allocate EXP for your units.

Skill Chains

  • Only possible in multiplayer.
  • Happens when 4 or more skills are used in quick succession. The longer the chain, the higher the damage.

Skill Gauge

  • Three gauges located near the flippers. Moving around the field will cause your gauge to increase. Swiping in the direction of a filled-up skill gauge will cause that unit's skill to unleash, consuming the gauge.

Soft Spots

  • Refers to the red crosshairs that appear when enemies are charging up their attacks. Hitting all the spots will cancel the enemy's attack, temporarily stunning them and making them more vulnerable.

Unison

  • Refers to the bottom three units on your team. They do not have their "main abilities" active as they are not in the top of the team.

Wrightpieces

  • Currency that is used for switching around Ability Cores.

Team Terminologies

Enmity Team

  • This refers to skills and abilities that get stronger the less HP your units have.
  • It's a team that intentionally maintains low health for stronger attacks.

Float and/or Pierce Team

  • Float and/or pierce team meaning a team that focuses on using float, or pierce, or both.
  • These teams are usually extensions of other teams. (Float SD, Pierce DA, etc...)

Multiball Team (MB)

  • Multiball meaning certain characters that add more units on the board.
  • It's a team focused on using multiball characters.
  • These teams are usually extensions of other teams. (Multiball SD, Multiball PFlip, etc...)

PFlip Team (PF)

  • PFlip meaning "power flip."
  • It's a team focused on getting high combo counts for repeated power flips.

Rainbow Team

  • A team that focuses on using different elements.
  • These teams are usually focused on using the Armament Kaleido Drop Pendant.pngKaleido Drop Pendant

SD Team

  • SD meaning "skill damage."
  • It's a team focused on skill damage more than directly attacking the enemies.

DA Team

  • DA meaning "Direct Attack."
  • Teams focused on dealing damage through direct contact with the enemies.

Wanpan Team

  • Wanpan meaning "one shot" or "one punch."
  • It's a team capable of clearing stages in a short amount of time. This is usually done by stacking buffs on a single unit and using their skill.
