With Suizen and Mizuchi's help, Alk and co. are able to put down the dragon. Suizen explains that the dragon is actually a shikigami that has bound itself to Kugui, and that it might be the same creature that destroyed her village when she was younger. Disheartened and fearful of hurting more people, Kugui states that she will never paint again and secludes herself in her room. Ryouki, however, refuses to let things stand and decides to find a way to help Kugui.
